As those of you with babies know, you can not give a newborn a "real" bath until their umbilical cord has dried up and fallen off. So we had to do a sponge bath for the first couple weeks. This was definitely a learning process. Below is a pic of his first sponge bath when he was 3 days old.
Luckily his belly button started healing and it was safe to put him in the baby tub. We were so surprised when we put him in his little whale tub! He loved it! Thank goodness! He was so calm. Here is a video (hopefully it works) of one of his first baths in the tub.
He started really enjoying the bath. He shows his happiness by looking at himself in the mirror, kicking his little legs, talking to us and smiling. It makes us so happy that he is so comfortable in the water now. He even does a little breast stroke kick! He must be a natural! We can't wait to take him to the pool in a couple of months. Below are a few pics from bath time.
